Join us for our upcoming events & talks

We have a whole lot of events coming up! In the next weeks, we’re going to talk about our case in Patagonia, in DIT and UCD amongst others, and we’re also very honoured to have Marjan Minnesma, CEO of the Urgenda Foundation, with us for many of talks. All of the events are free, some of them you’ll need tickets for though. Please check out further details below:

Climate change and citizens – Patagonia Event

Climate change is a threat to all of us, yet the Irish Government’s climate policy is weak and unambitious. Ireland’s carbon emissions are among the highest per capita in the EU and they continue to rise. Climate Case Ireland are taking the Government to court to demand more climate action and need your support to show the Government that this case is for all of us.

Guest speaker:
Marjan Minnesma, Urgenda Foundation, the Netherlands – who will speak about how Urgenda took the Netherlands Government to court and won and why the Urgenda victory is internationally significant, and how Urgenda’s win will strengthen Climate Case Ireland’s argument.

DIT GoGreen event

Climate Case Ireland are taking the Irish Government to court for contributing to climate change and they’re here to tell us all about it alongside USI who will give you useful tips on becoming sustainable and green. Win Ben & Jerrys’ Ice Cream and Irish Rail Vouchers!

Climate Case Ireland Public Event UCD.

 “We’re taking the government to court!

Join Climate Case Ireland and UCD Students’ Union as we welcome Marjan Minnesma, CEO of the Urgenda Foundation, a Dutch NGO that successfully sued their government for failing to address climate change. We will hear about their groundbreaking victory and how we can do the same here in Ireland. Everyone is welcome at this event – you don’t have to be in UCD!

Patagonia Black Friday and Saturday

Then, on Friday and Saturday, we’ll have a stand in Patagonia (Exchequer street, Dublin) to talk about the case with interested customers and hopefully gain more supporters to add on to the 3000+ that have already signed the case is also ‘in their name’!

Dublin Human Rights Festival

Finally, we will also be speaking on the case in a panel on Environmental Justice at the Dublin Human Rights Festival 2018, Saturday the 24th of November. The panel is scheduled from 11:30 – 12:45 and presents the following speakers and topics:

“How can a person enjoy basic human rights such as the right to life and the right to health and well-being, without access to clean and unpolluted air, soil and water? This discussion looks at the connection between the environment and human rights, centered around the theme of ‘Environmental Justice’. Looking at examples from Ireland, Brazil and more, the panel of speakers including indigenous rights defender Geovani Krenak (Brazil), Oisin Coghlan (Friends of the Earth), Sian Cowman (LASC), Edwin Alblas (Climate Case Ireland) and Sinéad Mercier will offer perspectives on how local and global groups of people can participate in making decisions about the environment, hold governments and corporations accountable and act against human rights violations.”
